THE "SIDES"
EXPLAINED.
One body of water, separated by law, climate, and structural dikes. Discover the profound differences between Lake Anna's **Public (Cold) Side** and the landlocked **Private (Warm) Side**, and plan your boat routes accordingly.
No Under-Water or Over-Dike Crossings Permitted
There is **no water navigation channel** linking the two sides of Lake Anna. Three immense stone cooling dikes block all boat movement to control water thermals. Attempting to drag, carry, or port jet-skis or boats over the earthen dikes is strictly illegal, constitutes federal trespassing under Nuclear Power Facility security laws, and is heavily patrolled by local Wildlife Police.
THE PUBLIC SIDE "COLD SIDE"
Comprising over 70% of Lake Anna's total volume, this is the main tourism and commercial sector. Home to stunning wide channels, national fishing tournaments, state parks, and bustling full-service marinas.
- ✓**Accessible to everyone** – launch from high-grade public state parks or commercial ramps.
- ✓**6 Full Service Marinas** offering ethanol-free fuel, slips, boat rentals, and master mechanics.
- ✓**Waterfront Dining** – Pull your boat up to Tim's Rivershore, Lake Anna Taphouse, or Dockside Grill.
THE PRIVATE SIDE "WARM SIDE"
A landlocked, exclusive lagoon loop housing the power company's reactor discharge channels. Separated from open waters by heavy dikes, there are absolutely no commercial businesses, public ramps, or marinas on this side.
- ⚠️**Exclusive Access** – Strictly landlocked; launch is physically limited to neighborhood HOA ramps for property owners and their renters.
- ⚠️**No Gas Docks or Stores** – You must refuel your boat at off-site gas stations or tow it off the water.
- ⚠️**Heated Discharge Loop** – Water runs up to 14°F hotter, enabling active swimming in early spring and world-class winter bass patterns.
