Pleasants Landing at Lake Anna
349 Pleasant Landing Rd, Bumpass, VA 23024, USALive Scout Deep Dive
Jutting out into the tranquil southern waters of Lake Anna like a miniature Florida peninsula, Pleasants Landing is a unique 12-acre waterfront haven that bridges the gap between a full-service marina and an old-school lakeside recreation park. As the only commercial marina on the Louisa County side of the lake and one of only two designated public swimming beaches in the entire region, this property holds a distinct place in Lake Anna culture. The atmosphere here is unapologetically casual, communal, and steeped in quintessential Virginia lake life—far removed from the high-octane boat traffic found near the central Route 208 bridge.
Surrounded by over 2,600 feet of shoreline, the grounds command 270-degree panoramic vistas of the water. On any given summer afternoon, you will find multi-generational families claiming picnic tables under shade trees, paddlers gliding across calm coves, and fishermen casting lines off the wooden pier. While the grounds embrace a laid-back, community-park aesthetic rather than a manicured luxury resort, its quiet location on the public side makes it an ideal launchpad for watercraft adventures and sunset seekers alike.
Local Tip
Bring water shoes, pack personal hand sanitizer, and arrive early on holiday weekends. The lakebed along the swimming shoreline has scattered stones, and while on-site facilities are plentiful, satellite restrooms during peak summer crowds mean keeping your own wipes and sanitizers handy will keep your group comfortable.
The Lay of the Land & Waterfront Amenities
Pleasants Landing functions on a versatile hybrid model: day visitors can purchase day passes for beach and park access, while boaters take advantage of dry storage, covered slips, ethanol-free fuel docks, and automated launch ramps. The grassy peninsula is dotted with charcoal grills, picnic pavilions, and a sandy beach strip that slopes gently into the swimming cove. The swimming area is cordoned off from motorized vessels, giving families with young children a safe zone to splash without dealing with heavy wake.
Beyond standard beach days, the point serves as an energetic community gathering place. Throughout the season, Pleasants Landing hosts major local traditions including the annual Father’s Day car shows, the "Rumpus in Bumpass" sprint triathlons, artisan craft fairs, and live outdoor concerts under the open sky. Whether you pull in by pontoon to pick up provisions or roll in with a truck bed full of beach chairs, the venue accommodates day-trippers of all stripes.

Food, Drinks & On-Site Sustenance
A major draw for visitors who spend the day at Pleasants Landing is the convenience of having on-site dining right at the edge of the park. Overlooking the water, El Gran Patron Mexican Restaurant operates directly on the property, dishing out oversized burritos, hearty taco platters, sizzling fajitas, and ice-cold Cadillac margaritas. Sitting on the patio with chips, fresh salsa, and a drink while watching boats dock against the horizon is an essential part of the experience.
For quick grab-and-go refreshments, the marina general store carries cold sodas, bottled water, snacks, bagged ice, sunscreen, and essential fishing tackle. During special festival weekends and charity events, you will often find rotating regional food trucks and beer vendors lining the open lawn space near the concert stage, creating a vibrant block-party vibe right by the shore.
Local Tip
Launching your own vessel during mid-to-late summer? Check current lake water levels before you back down the trailer. Like many older lake ramps, low water can expose drop-offs or shallow sand deposits near the end of the concrete slips, so tilt your motor trim up and launch slowly.
Logistics, Hours & What to Know Before You Go
Planning ahead ensures a smooth trip to Pleasants Landing. Park and beach entrance requires a nominal daily admission per person (typically around $8 for adults and $5 to $6 for children), collected at the entry gate. If you are renting a motorized pontoon boat, state regulations mandate that drivers hold a valid Virginia Boater Safety certificate, so be sure to complete your online boater safety course and save the confirmation on your phone prior to arrival to expedite your checkout at the docks.
Because the property is pet-friendly, well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome on the grounds, making it a great destination if you want to include your furry family members in a day of waterside grilling and shoreline walking. Pack your cooler, bring pop-up shade canopies if you plan to stay by the sand all afternoon, and settle into the slower, welcoming pace that defines the Bumpass end of Lake Anna.

Vendors, Food Truck, Live Music, Beer and Wine plus a wide variety of car owners going after that trophy. Pleasants Landing is the perfect place for it. On the water at Lake Anna, which has a beach area and plenty of kayaking, paddle boarding, boat rentals all to add to an amazing family outing. Check it out. All proceeds going to the LABP Scholarship Fund supporting seniors in Louisa, Spotsylvania and Orange county."
"Great boat rental at a serene spot at Lake Anna! The staff was super nice and helped us a lot with our kayak rental. The price was also not bad at 15 an hour and 40 all day. One issue is that you do have to pay 5 for children, and 8 for adult for entry. This spot on the lake was also very beautiful. If you visit Lake Anna a boating adventure is a must!"
"I rarely leave negative reviews, but in this case I feel it's only fair to be honest — 3 stars. Nature — 5/5. Lake — 5/5. Absolutely beautiful views, peaceful water, and overall a lovely natural setting. Service — 3/5. Territory — 3/5. We drove over an hour to get here and paid $8 per adult and $6 per child, expecting a comfortable place to relax. Unfortunately, several basic things were missing. There were no handwashing stations near the restrooms. The porta-potties were unbearable in the heat — the smell was overwhelming, and there was no place to wash your hands afterward, which is especially concerning when you're about to eat. There were also no drinking fountains — not even for kids to get a sip of water. And what’s worse, we saw many people entering and enjoying the area without paying, while we had paid for everyone in our group. So the question is: what exactly are we paying for? The place has great potential, but the current level of service doesn't match the entry fee. Hope this feedback helps improve things."
