Live Scout Deep Dive
Tucked away along the tranquil waters of Breaknock Road on the lower public side of Lake Anna, Dukes Creek Marina captures the quintessential spirit of Virginia lake life. Far from the crowded, high-stress energy of commercial mega-marinas, Dukes Creek delivers a warm, down-home atmosphere where seasoned boat captains, summer vacationers, and weekend anglers mingle with ease. Set within a sheltered, calm-water cove just off the main channel, the marina offers glass-smooth departures and docking, making it a beloved haven for families, first-time renters, and anyone seeking an unhurried day on the water.
The vibe here is casual, welcoming, and deeply rooted in personal customer service. From dockhands who greet you with genuine enthusiasm to master technicians who take the time to answer mechanical questions, the staff approaches every visitor like a neighbor. Whether you are launching your own bass boat from the paved ramp, picking up a late-afternoon scoop of hand-dipped ice cream, or renting a spacious pontoon to cruise down toward the dam, Dukes Creek Marina feels like the quintessential lakeside general store and service depot of yesteryear.
Pontoon Fleet & Watercraft Rentals
For visitors looking to explore the expansive waters of Lake Anna without hauling their own rig, Dukes Creek operates one of the best-maintained rental operations in the region. Their rental fleet features modern pontoons ranging from intimate 5-person craft with 60-horsepower outboards up to expansive 10- and 12-passenger models pushing 90 horsepower. Unlike bare-bones rental yards that push worn vessels onto the lake, the team at Dukes Creek rigorously inspects, details, and mechanically verifies each craft between outings to ensure safety, reliability, and pristine upholstery.
Outings can be booked for four-hour half-day windows or full eight-hour days (keep in mind that busy peak-season summer weekends prioritize full-day bookings). Before you leave the slip, the dock crew walks you through an informative, stress-free vessel orientation and can administer a temporary Virginia Boating Safety credential on the spot if you do not already carry an approved boaters education card. You can also gear up your rental with two-person towable tubes, water sports life jackets, and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) rented by the 2-, 4-, or 8-hour block. Even four-legged family members are invited aboard for a nominal pet fee, making it easy to bring the entire family together for an afternoon cruise.
Local Tip
While departing Dukes Creek cove into the main lake, keep a sharp eye on your depth finder and stick close to the navigational markers. Lake Anna features varying bottom contours with hidden sandbars and submerged rocky points just off the primary channels. If you have an unexpected mishap with a sandbar or prop strike, alert the marina right away—their service yard is legendary for treating boating mishaps with grace, quick mechanical turnaround, and zero judgment.
Launch Ramp, Fuel Dock & Certified Service
Boat owners trailering their own vessels will find Dukes Creek one of the easiest launch points on the southern basin. The deep, paved concrete boat ramp provides ample traction even during low-water periods, complemented by dedicated truck-and-trailer staging lanes that keep morning launch lines moving smoothly. Single-day launch and parking passes are reasonably priced, with season launch passes available for regulars who fish or wakeboard year-round. Covered wet slips in calm, wake-protected water are also available for both seasonal lease and transient tie-ups.
To keep marine engines running cleanly, the marina provides a dedicated fuel dock serving 24-hour pay-at-the-pump ethanol-free marine gasoline—a critical feature for preventing carburetor fouling and moisture issues in high-performance outboards. In the event of engine trouble, Dukes Creek boasts a certified marine service center authorized in Yamaha, Mercury, and Suzuki outboards. Experienced mechanics Harrison, Trevor, and their team handle everything from rapid diagnostic scans and prop swaps to emergency electrical repairs and seasonal winterization.
The Marina Country Store & Deli
No excursion to Dukes Creek is complete without a stop inside the air-conditioned marina country store. Serving as a one-stop provisions depot for boaters and surrounding waterfront campers, the store stocks everything from marine oil, spare safety lanyards, and sunscreen to ice, cold craft beverages, and regional Lake Anna merchandise.
The on-site deli is a beloved lunch spot for hungry boaters pulling into the fuel slip. Fresh, made-to-order hot foods headline the menu, including piping-hot Hunt Brothers pizzas, grilled burgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, chicken wing bites, and crispy french fries. On warm summer afternoons, the crown jewel is their dessert counter, serving hand-dipped Hershey’s ice cream waffle cones and thick milkshakes. It is the perfect mid-day reward to recharge before turning your boat around for golden hour on the water.

Planning Your Arrival & The Local Take
If you are planning a weekend boat rental during prime summer months (Memorial Day through Labor Day), be sure to reserve your date several weeks in advance. Plan to arrive at least 20 to 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time to finish paperwork, load your coolers, complete the safety checklist, and secure your life vests without cutting into your cruising hours. The gravel parking areas provide plenty of room, but spaces closest to the office fill quickly on sunny Saturday mornings.
What sets Dukes Creek apart from other regional boat centers is its culture of flexibility and customer-first hospitality. When morning road delays or toddler dilemmas make visitors run late, the office team is known for working with renters to extend afternoon dock returns whenever reservations allow. For an authentic, reliable, and scenic taste of Bumpass and Lake Anna, Dukes Creek Marina remains one of the finest launchpads on the water.

"They were easy to work with and we hit a rock and messed up our prop and they were so nice helped us out fixed it and got us back out on the water and didn’t even make us feel bad about that happening. They told us that you know accidents happen. We will rent from them again. They have really good prices really knowledgeable staff and thank you Trevor for all your help."
"While on our fishing trip from New Jersey we had an issue with our Yamaha 250 breaking down on the lake. The Towboat US captain made a call for us recommending Dukes Creek. We brought it to Harrison and he diagnosed it right away. He ordered the part we needed, tracked the delivery, communicated with me every step of the way and installed it asap. Back on the lake the following week! Being from out of town Harrison made us feel comfortable in leaving our boat in good hands. Great service. Great people!"
"Great Rental Place - Great Day at the Lake! Our launched was scheduled for 830. We arrived 15 minutes early to check-in. Everyone inside the office and the crew outside were friendly nice and helpful. We arrived just after 4pm to turn the boat in at 4:30. The boat was a 2016 and in great condition. I know the boats must be used a lot and people can be dirty and not clean up after themselves; so was impressed how good of condition it was in. It was a great day on the lake start to finish. We listened to all of the advice and rules, followed them and had no issues. We will be back! Thank you Duke Marina and Thank you Collin for making the day great."
