"Happy" The Bass
Happy is Lake Anna’s official/unofficial mascot, first appearing in the early 1980s. A legendary retro-cool local who has witnessed the entire evolution of the lake since the gates closed in 1972!
- 🐟Deep-Water Roots: Swam down Edenton's flooded farmland channels in '72. Remembers when Sturgeon Creek was just a hand-dug dirt ramp!
- 🟢The Mission: Strong crusader for catch-and-release to foster monster 9-pounders. Tracks "trophy freckles" (crappie) across all 200+ miles of LKA shorelines.
- ❄️The Thermocline: Spans the 14°F warmer Private hot side & cool Public body. November White Perch are his absolute season highlight!

Water clarity is good in many areas, with timber, docks, grass edges, and channel transitions all worth watching.
Work topwater stickbaits along deep bridge structures and floating docks at morning light. Keep a steady swimbait retrieval over mud flats.

Hey there lake family, it is an absolutely gorgeous, irie day to cruise or cast on Lake Anna! We have got warm 84-degree waters over on the private side near Dike 2 where the bass are hugging those deep grass lines, while the public side is offering up some stellar early morning striper action around the splits in 18 feet of water. If you have the kids out, head over to the sandbars near Henrys Point with some night crawlers for easy perch limits. Boaters, just take it nice and easy on the North Anna arm—there are still some floating logs from the recent storms out there. Keep it relaxed, stay safe, and enjoy that sweet lake breeze!
