Dawn at Pleasants Landing is already one of the most stunning sights in Central Virginia, but race morning elevates the venue into pure electric energy. As the early mist lifts off Lake Anna’s southern waters, hundreds of athletes congregate on the panoramic grassy peninsula, checking tire pressures, racking carbon frames, and warming up along the shoreline. Offering Sprint, Olympic, Aquabike, and Duathlon distance options for 2027, the Rumpus in Bumpass organized by Kinetic Multisports has become a crown jewel on the Mid-Atlantic multisport calendar.
Registration & Signups: Official registration for the 2027 Rumpus in Bumpass opens in November! Athletes can secure their registration directly through Trisignup or visit the Kinetic Multisports Rumpus Page for full athlete guides, pricing tiers, and course maps.
The race kicks off with a beach-start swim in the calm, protected waters off the peninsula, giving swimmers clean navigation lines and minimal boat wake. Once out of the water and through transition, cyclists head out into the gently rolling, pine-fringed backroads of Louisa and Hanover counties. Competitors then cap off the morning with a flat, scenic footrace along packed lakefront pathways and marina access roads, where lake breezes and enthusiastic volunteer aid stations power runners through every stride toward the finish arch.
