There is something truly magical about late summer mornings in Louisa County. As the heavy summer humidity begins to give way to the first hints of autumn crispness, the rolling hills of the Virginia Piedmont come alive in a golden glow. The 53rd Winery late-Summer 5k & 10k offers the perfect opportunity to experience this scenic beauty firsthand. Unlike standard road races that keep you pounding the asphalt, this unique course invites you to run or walk directly through the lush, grape-laden rows of Fifty-Third Winery & Vineyard. It’s an immersive, off-road journey through one of the region's most beloved agricultural treasures.
This event is a true reflection of the close-knit, welcoming spirit that defines the Lake Anna community. Whether you are aiming for a personal record on the timed 10k course or prefer a leisurely morning stroll with family on the 5k path, the atmosphere is incredibly supportive. Best of all, your participation directly supports Hooves & Paws Animal Rescue, a local organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. Around here, we love our pets just as much as we love our wine, making this partnership a natural fit for locals and visitors alike.
Crossing the finish line is just the beginning of your morning. Once you’ve conquered the vines, the celebration shifts to Fifty-Third’s expansive, modern pavilion and outdoor seating areas. Runners can cool down and toast their achievement with a complimentary pour of the winery's exceptional estate-grown wines—ranging from crisp, refreshing whites to bold, barrel-aged reds. With live music filling the air, local food trucks serving up hearty post-race fuel, and plenty of space to spread out a picnic blanket, it’s the ultimate way to spend a late-summer Saturday.
