With sunshine beaming and a light breeze, you've got pristine boating conditions paired with a killer early morning striper bite near the split channels, just keep a watchful eye out for some floating debris up north.
"Happy" The Bass
Happy is Lake Anna’s official/unofficial mascot, first appearing in the early 1980s. A legendary retro-cool local who has witnessed the entire evolution of the lake since the gates closed in 1972!
- 🐟Deep-Water Roots: Swam down Edenton's flooded farmland channels in '72. Remembers when Sturgeon Creek was just a hand-dug dirt ramp!
- 🟢The Mission: Strong crusader for catch-and-release to foster monster 9-pounders. Tracks "trophy freckles" (crappie) across all 200+ miles of LKA shorelines.
- ❄️The Thermocline: Spans the 14°F warmer Private hot side & cool Public body. November White Perch are his absolute season highlight!

Public Side vs Private Side Water
Water clarity is good in many areas, with timber, docks, grass edges, and channel transitions all worth watching.
Work topwater stickbaits along deep bridge structures and floating docks at morning light. Keep a steady swimbait retrieval over mud flats.
"The public cold side has significantly denser vegetation. Concentrate deep dragging lines inside pockets around Lake Anna State Park."
Lake Anna Live: Sunset Solace & Deep-Side Stripers
"With sunshine beaming and a light breeze, you've got pristine boating conditions paired with a killer early morning striper bite near the split channels, just keep a watchful eye out for some floating debris up north."
Hey there, lake family. Grab your sunglasses and take a nice, deep breath of that clean Lake Anna air. Today is all about finding your perfect groove on the water. We've got a beautiful, sunny 74-degree day lined up with just a gentle 8 mph breeze out of the northeast to keep things cool. If you're running the boat early, keep a sharp eye out for some floating timber near the North Anna arm from those recent storms—no need to rush, just cruise easy. Over on the public side near Henry's Point, the water's a crisp 47 degrees, and the perch are absolutely stacked over the sandbars, making it a perfect spot to drop some night crawlers with the kids. If you're hunting stripers, hit the split channels early before the sun gets high and they retreat deep. And for our private side friends, that water is already a balmy 84 degrees, so find those deep grass lines near Dike 2 and rip some lipless crankbaits to wake those big bass up. Keep it easy, stay safe, and enjoy every single moment of this gorgeous lake day.
