Historical Lake Outlook

A cool breeze is blowing across a quiet, misty lake with a killer early morning striper bite near the splits, but watch out for some floating logs up in the North Anna arm if you are out for an early cruise.

Fish on, friends! Happy the Bass here—your friendly neighborhood largemouth and retro-cool guide since the first stocking of 1972! 🐟 I've watched this beautiful lake fill up right over old Campbell Edenton's family farmland. Ask me anything about matching the hatch, fishing standard dikes vs the hot side, or tracking some of those 'trophy freckles' (crappie) near the bridge pilings!

Current Lake Notes:

Water clarity is good in many areas, with timber, docks, grass edges, and channel transitions all worth watching.

Baits and Presentation:

Work topwater stickbaits along deep bridge structures and floating docks at morning light. Keep a steady swimbait retrieval over mud flats.

Local Angler Tip:

"The public cold side has significantly denser vegetation. Concentrate deep dragging lines inside pockets around Lake Anna State Park."

Tactical Scouting Synopsis

Hey there, LKA family! We have got a beautiful, crisp morning on the water with cool NE breezes. If you are out on the public side, things are still pretty cool down deep near Henry's Point and Boxley, but the perch are absolutely loving the sandbars there—perfect for a relaxed family drift with the kiddos. Over on the private side, it is a whole different world at a balmy 84 degrees where the bass are super active around the Dike 2 weedlines. Boaters, just take it nice and easy running up the North Anna arm early on, as there are still some stray logs drifting around from the late storms. Tight lines and stay irie out there!
